Stoic philosopher and roman emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote a masterpiece almost two millennia ago: Meditations.

His insights are just as relevant today. Given the hard life he led, it is a straight-forward guide for conscious living.

Fantastic! Really very good stuff Miguel! I’m going to buy it. Now that’s an excellent an excellent book to review and your review was great. Getting better and better! Though I must say, I’m fairly partial to the great classics.

The idea ought to spread with people like Miguel teaching others the importance of this world view. Thanks also for posting a comment on my Marcus Aurelius site. I invite others to do so also.

My analysis of the Meditations is radical (root) and built on Stoicism’s genesis in Stoic Physics. As a physicist I have attempted to bring this philosophy (as the “new Stoicism”) into the 21st century. It is still essentially a valid and very much a living philosophy with much relevance to the contemporary world.

@Bec & Blake: I’m thrilled you enjoyed it! I certainly had fun recording, what an amazing source of inspiration this book is. Knowing there is people our there getting value out of some of these videos makes me want to keep going, despite being to my neck lately ;)

@Russell: You have an impressive amount of content on Marcus, with a very elaborated view - I will have to pay more attention to your writings. Thanks to you as well for taking the time to post on BookVIM. Considering your expertise on the subject matter, I really appreciate your praise.

Feel free to subscribe (top right) to receive more good chapters.

I found it hilarious that you didn’t address the fact that you’re wearing a suit (a slick one at that). I thought you’d say, “I’m on the way out”, or “I dressed up for Marcus”, but no, no mention at all.

    I like your style.

Another great review. So stimulating that I am going to go out and get the book and read it. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the great work and hope to see you when you visit the states, if you have time.

@Ryan: Haha, thanks! the thing is I’d say I feel more myself dressed up than with a hoodie. So far I’ve paid little attention to how I dress for the videos, it’s whatever I’m wearing at the time, but I’m seriously considering having some fun and tweaking my style a bit to suit each book ;)

@Arnie: If I see you in the states I’ll double check you got the book… I’m sure you’ll like it!

Keep your work up on the Meditations. If there is any hope for out planet it will be through this approach. It is based on reason and on nature.
