Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk (review) - Chapter #34
by Miguel on 21/10/09 at 3:04 am
Share the goodness!Gary is a character: in your face, fun, raw and a very loving human being. He is the host of WinelibraryTV and founder of the branding company Vaynermedia.
If you haven’t heard of him, you must have been hiding. He is taking the online world by storm. In Crush It! he explains how he built his “brand equity” to astronomical levels by leveraging Internet social media and following his passion.
His authentic voice jumps from the pages.
If some part of you still believes you are not doomed to choose between money or passion, that you can really have both, then I highly recommend checking it out. If you have lost all faith by now - even more so!.
You can find below a mindmap that summarizes the key points of the book in a snapshot.

My review:

I thought this book was phenomenal. I was VERY surprised at how much original content was in this book. I thought that I had heard Gary’s whole story but when I read this I was re-inspired by his story through hearing new points and stories of his success.
Definitely a great read.

Ryan, I have to agree with you.
I thought I’d knew all from his videos but the book is fresh and stands on its own without a problem.
Good insight to focus your review on!

Thanks for this video post and especially the mindmap Miguel!
You have further wet my appetite to get my own copy of Gary’s book and implement it’s strategies personally.
It seems you have shown us here an excellent example of as Jay Abraham would say, “Transactionalizing” Gary’s philosophy and passion.
Well done, lead on!

Hi Tim,
I studied some of Jay’s materials a few years ago. I don’t remember that term but you sure have enticed me to review what I learned - I think I would get more out of it now.
I really appreciate your comment: knowing that you got value out of this chapter is a great motivation to keep doing my thing, so thank you very much!
Much more to come B)

I definitely will be keeping an eye out for what you will be doing next Miguel.
Looking forward to it actually!
You are clearly a fellow “Founder-Thinker” as I like to call it.
Grateful to have learned of you.
If you need any re-Mind-ing of how important what You are doing is… Extending Your Thinking as you have done above…let me know, I’ll be here cheering you on.
Now Go!
Lead On!

Cheers Scott.
Glad you enjoyed it. If your son gets started spreading his passion at 13… he’ll be way ahead of the game in 5 years!
Personally I wish I’d been 13 nowadays, at that age you so much time available - he’ll take over the Internets

Awesome! Do you have an ADD version? I am so not kidding.

Would you believe me if I said it was hard to keep the mindmap that SMALL?
The book is seriously packed with valuable content.
That said, thanks for letting me know it’s hard to grasp that image. I may start doing smaller mindmaps that only capture the fundamentals - may be do good for desktop background reminders?
Thanks por passing by GM

It is a fantastic book, really motivating and a real game changer. I got abit fed up of bold claims by alot of books and authors relating to business but this one is very real and very informative.
Great blog Miguel look forward to seeing it grow

Hi Gareth,
Sorry I missed your comment among a massive spam attack.
I just lent this book (against my personal vouch not to lend books anymore!) to a friend who wants to make it in the fashion industry. Personal branding is so crucial in that competetive field, I’m certain she can benefit from it.
Motivating as you say, but fortunately no get-rich-quick spiel in it.
Thanks for your kind words and passing by.

Hi Miguel,
I enjoyed your blog today! It’s fresh!
I am told that if you write for 2 hours in the early morning, this material will not need rewriting. I saw my Father write 8 hours a day and he did a lot of rewriting, however later in his life, he wrote for 4 hours a day with no rewriting.
When I see Jason Fladien producing Ebooks in one day due to client deadlines, I have to say I am very impressed.
So what I am trying to say, find what is right for you.
Sometimes I like to go sit in a sidewalk cafe and write, it is quite a motivating experience.
Great day to you friend!
